Port Qasim, which already has the distinction of being the deepest Port in Pakistan Offering ISM draft, from November 15 has added another feather in its cap of historic achievements by also being the first port in Pakistan to declare Night Navigation facility for 310m vessels throughout the year.

The first vessel to avail this landmark facility is Maersk Kolkata voy, 1217 which arrived at Port midnight 11-12-2012 and berthed at 03:00 hours 11-12-2012 with LOA 304m berth at QICT. This is the largest vessel ever to berth at night at Port Qasim.

This landmark achievement has only been possible due to immense efforts and proactive attitude of the management of Port Qasim Authority. Pakistan has a seaborne trade of 97 percent and this enhancement in Night Navigation facility of 310m vessel will enable Port Qasim to handle larger vessel with morn volume pt cargo & ship's turn around time would be reduced substantially. This would also be a major advantage for all stakeholders. This will definitely reduces the cost of doing business at Port Qasim and give a major boost to the trade and economy of Pakistan.-PR
